Hi, I’m Mitch. I like helping brands do fun things real people care about. I like helping teams do their best work yet. I like helping students learn how. I dislike writing bios, but hey, it’s the about section.
WORK
Executive Creative Director, 2021-now
Baldwin&, Raleigh NC
Running the creative department of ad legend David Baldwin’s agency as we help brands be who they say they are. Clients include Epic Games, Volvo Trucks, Bridgestone Motorcycle Tires, Long John Silver’s, Gaia Herbs, Zulily, and eVTOL company Pivotal (flying cars, but for sale right now). We’re also AOR for North Carolina’s Brewery of the Year, Ponysaurus.
Chief Creative Officer, 2019-2021
Luckie, Atlanta GA
Helped grow an independent agency across our Atlanta and Birmingham offices. Clients included Regions Bank, Little Debbie, Valvoline, FedEx, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Visit Panama City Beach, U.S. Civil Rights Trail, Melinda’s Hot Sauce, and others. Helped the agency gain a reputation for doing creative work, winning at every major award show including One Show and Gold at Cannes.
SVP, Executive Creative Director, 2011-2019
Fitzco, Atlanta GA
Worked across all accounts, including Coca-Cola, Coke Zero, Odwalla, French's, Stubb’s, Lawry’s, Mellow Mushroom, Harry’s, Checkers & Rally's, Synovus Bank, Quikrete, and Pergo. Most proud of helping elevate the creative product to win the most awards in the agency’s history, recruit a super-talented creative department, and grow the Coke business from live-read radio assignments to national brand work.
Associate Creative Director, 2010-2011
Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Boulder CO
Launched Windows Phone globally, worked on Facebook & Bing and Windows. I actually worked there for 10 years in people time.
Creative Director, 2006-2010
GSD&M, Austin TX
AT&T, Southwest Airlines, American Legacy Foundation, Goodyear, LL Bean, Toshiba, Norwegian Cruise Line, Dreamworks and Marshalls. Helped create Unscrew America, a lightbulb-changing non-profit, with one of the producers of An Inconvenient Truth. Got the chance to contribute to the Southwest Airlines "Wanna Get Away?" campaign. I was sued by 11-time All-Star power forward Karl Malone for allegedly stealing his idea. I had to show our Omnicom lawyer my notebook and he wondered why the client hadn’t bought a much funnier spot, and it turns out you can like a lawyer.
Senior Copywriter, 2004-2006
McKinney, Durham NC
Sony, Travelocity, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, LongHorn Steakhouse. Helped introduce the Travelocity Roaming Gnome. Most improbably, won three national battles of the corporate bands, playing Irving Plaza, The Knitting Factory and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with our faux-metal band, Pants!
Copywriter, 2002-2004
BBDO New York NY
Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, Aquafina, PeopleSoft, Stainmaster, KFC, Doritos, Gillette. I did a Times Square stunt for Mountain Dew that was really fun but YouTube hadn’t been invented so we didn’t think to film it.
EDUCATION
Creative Circus, Atlanta GA

Rest In Peace, Circus, I loved you so much.

Adjunct Instructor, 2022-now
I taught the same Creative Advertising class that made me want to do this in the first place, and then I introduced Advanced Creative, a Circus-like portfolio class to help undergrads get their foot in the door of creative departments. Reach out if you need talented juniors!
